Rational agents are the quickest
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider agents who choose by proceeding through a checklist of criteria (for any pair of alternatives the rst criterion that ranks the pair determines the agents choice). Regardless of the discriminating capacity of the criteria in a checklist, choices that maximize complete and transitive preferences can always be the outcome of a quickchecklist that uses a small number of criteria. For any irrational preference on the other hand there is always a discriminatory capacity for criteria such that the preference is not the outcome of a quick checklist. Moreover, if we x the discriminatory capacity then, as the size of the domain increases, the proportion of irrational preferences that can be the outcome of a quick checklist goes to 0 at a super-exponential rate. We also show that checklists that can be assembled at lowest cost always lead to rational preferences. JEL codes: D01

Dual-Target Anticancer Drug Candidates: Rational Design and Simulation Studies
This study aims to design some dual-target anticancer candidates, capable to act as an alkylating agent as well as a thymidylate synthase (TS) inhibitor. The designed scaffold is a combination of nucleobase, amino acid and aziridine structures. The candidates are docked into TS and three DNA double strand structures and evaluated based on their binding interaction energies and ligand efficienci...
متن کاملBehavioral aspects of arbitrageurs in timing games of bubbles and crashes
This paper demonstrates the theoretical foundation that underlies the willingness of rational arbitrageurs to delay and reinforce the speculative attack. The key assumptions are that there is a small probability that arbitrageurs are behavioral and never time the market of their own accord and it is uncertain whether arbitrageurs are behavioral or rational. We model a stock market as a timing g...
متن کاملQuickest Detection with Social Learning: Interaction of local and global decision makers
We consider how local and global decision policies interact in stopping time problems such as quickest time change detection. Individual agents make myopic local decisions via social learning, that is, each agent records a private observation of a noisy underlying state process, selfishly optimizes its local utility and then broadcasts its local decision. Given these local decisions, how can a ...
متن کاملAntimicrobial susceptibility of one thousand bacterial isolates to five antibacterial agents commonly used in the Iranian poultry industry
BACKGROUNDS: Different susceptibility rates of pathogenic bacteria to antimicrobial agents are considered major factors in the choice of drugs and the success of treatments. Concerns have been raised regarding the emergence of antimicrobial resistance among pathogenic bacteria that may result in unpredictable antimicrobial susceptibilities and therapy failure. OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this in...
متن کاملTowards a new model of speculative bubbles: nonparametric test with an application to the Tunisian Stock Index
Bubbles in asset prices have fascinated researchers in finance. Identify asset bubbles, by circumstances, on the stock market has been a growing number of research theoretical and empirical. On a theoretical level, it was assumed that the price dynamics reflect irrational behavior of economic agents and, therefore, should be excluded from a deal with the truly rational economic agents Burmeiste...
